Who am I?

Dr. Narine Dat Sookram

Dr. Narine Dat Sookram is a respected social worker, mental health professional, educator, author, and community leader with decades of experience serving children, youth, families, and vulnerable communities. Born in Guyana and raised in Waterloo Region, he has dedicated his career to advancing mental health, inclusion, equity, and community wellbeing while raising his own family in the region.

Holding a Doctor of Social Work degree, Dr. Sookram has served in leadership roles across social services and mental health organizations and currently works as a Clinical Manager while operating a private counselling practice. As a parent of two WRDSB students, he is committed to strengthening public education by promoting student achievement, mental health, equity, family engagement, and safe, inclusive learning environments where every student can thrive.
